Kinetic Sculpture (4th)
 

Inspired by a trip to MIT this grant seeks to fund an integrated 5 day unit on kinetic sculptures.  In this unit, students learn about the physics concepts of center of mass, gravity, gears and wind power.  They also learn about symmetry, aesthetics, how to set up a design notebook and lab safety.  The program is fully laid out with all of the lessons established.  This activity will be done with all of the 4th graders over a 4 or 5 day period.  It will take the place of the regular curriculum for those days.
