Author visit - michael northrop

The children of Brookside School were treated to a visit by author Michael Northrop on February 10th, 2016. Mr. Northrop is the author of the Tombquest series: Book 1: Book of the Dead, which spent three weeks on the NY Times bestseller list and was named one of the best children’s books of the year by the Los Angeles Public Library. He is also the author of four young adult novels including Surrounded by Sharks, Trapped and Rotten as well as the middle school novel Plunked.

Mr. Northrop used the writer’s workshop approach to talk to the students about writing. He told the students about his approach to writing and explained it as the “would/could method.” He also emphasized the need for constant revision during the writing process.
